Storyline of Assassin's Creed Mirage
Using a character named Basim bin Ishaq who will explore the story of
Assassin's Creed Mirage later. Since birth, Basim himself has had no parents
and he had to survive by becoming a street thief. In the Assassin's Creed
timeline, the story takes place in 861 CE in Anbar province of Baghdad. During
his time as a street thief, Basim also met a fellow orphan and street thief
named Nehal. Whereupon the two of them became friends and lived their lives
together. Basim has a dream of joining the Hidden Ones group, which he says
helps people fight corrupt rulers. Even though Basim is not a member of the
Hidden Ones group, he often receives missions from the Hidden Ones through
their chief thief named Dervis.
At one time when Basim was
carrying out his mission he met a member of the Hidden Ones named Roshan so at
that time Basim offered to join the Hidden Ones but Roshan refused because
Basim's safety could be threatened if he joined the Hidden Ones. But Basim
still insisted on joining by proving it by finding a chest in the palace of the
caliph named Al-Mutawakkil, who was also the target of the Hidden Ones. Basim,
assisted by Nehal, infiltrates the palace and sees the caliph, who turns out to
be influenced by the Order of the Ancients group, which is the sworn enemy of
the Hidden Ones. Then Basim got the contents of the chest in question, inside
which were artifacts left by ISU. Then Basim and Nehal were discovered by the
caliph and the two immediately ran away. The two were separated, Basim, carrying
the artifact, escaped from the pursuit of the palace guards and returned to his
house.
Then Roshan came to invite Basim
to leave the area because he had become a fugitive because of the death of the
caliph, but Basim refused because he wanted to look for Nehal until finally he
found that the derfish place had been destroyed and its members had been
massacred by the sultanate troops because they were considered to be the
mastermind behind the caliph's murder. Basim was caught by the sultanate's troops
and then rescued by Roshan to escape from the area.
Roshan takes Basim to the mountainous region of Alamut, Persia, which is the headquarters of the Hidden Ones in Abbasiyah. Basim was trained directly by Roshan to become a Hidden One. After the death of caliph Al-Mutawakkil, the Abbasiyah sultanate was controlled by the Order of the Ancients. After long training, Basim was recruited to become a member of the Hidden Ones with a procession such as one of them cutting off his ring finger as a sign of sacrifice to the Hidden Ones. Then some time after that a member of Hidden Wants was assigned to Baghdad and gave a warning that a trusted ally, namely Ali bin Muhammad, leader of the rebel group Zanji Rebellion, had disappeared because of the Order of the Ancients. Master Raihan, who is the leader of the Hidden Ones, ordered Basim, Fulad, and other Hidden Ones members to return to Baghdad to look for Ali and carry out an investigation to find out the purpose of the Order of the Ancients. In the end, Basim and Fulan found Ali detained and they both planned to free Ali. Ali managed to be free and provided information about the Order of the Ancients who controlled the Abbasid sultanate and were targeting the ISU racial relics buried in the Abbasid sultanate's territory. For this reason, the Hidden Ones tried to stop them by assigning Basim to kill the first member of the Order of the Ancients, namely Lusian Algul.
Basim reunites with Nehal and
apologizes because he blamed her and left her. Every time Basim kills members
of the Order of the Ancients he is always haunted by nightmares about genies.
Basim targeted the leader of the Order of the Ancients who was operating in
Baghdad and in the end it was revealed that the leader was Al Bahamut alias
Qabiha, one of the concubines of the caliph Al-Mutawakkil. In the end, Basim
succeeded in clearing the sultanate's palace and confronted Qabiha. Roshan
comes to kill Qabiha because he thinks he is trying to manipulate Basim. But
after hearing Qabiha's explanation, Basim wonders who he really is and aims to
go under the Alamut fortress. But Roshan forbids it and warns him, Basim still
insists on going there and Nehal offers to help him. When Basim arrived at the
Hidden Ones headquarters in Alamut, the other Hidden Ones members were attacked
by Order of the Ancient troops, including Basim. Luckily, one of the Hidden
Ones members named Nur saved him. This forces Basim to separate from Nehal.
Then Basim tries to help the Hidden Ones eradicate the enemies who attacked
earlier and save Master Rayhan. Basim explains his purpose to Alamut and master
Rayhan is surprised that perhaps Basim is the key to unlocking the ancient
relic. In the end, Master Rayhan allowed Basim to enter the ISU racial heritage
site. But before that Basim has to face Roshan and ends up winning.
Here Basim begins to realize that
Nehal is not a real figure but a figure who only exists in Basim's mind and
knows that the person who killed the caliph Al-Mutawakkil was Basim himself.
The artifact that Basim stole shows that Basim is the reincarnation of Loki,
the ISU race where he infiltrated and made a copy of himself in order to be
reincarnated into the Great Catastrophe era after which Loki was caught and
tortured by Hafi alias Odin. This memory is a form of Basim's nightmare, who
always meets genies in his dreams and Nehal is a form of Loki's memory. Basim
and Nehal unite themselves which makes Loki's memory enter Basim. As Loki, he
demands revenge against Odin and tries to find Odin's reincarnation, which in
this story continues in the timeline of the Assassin's Creed Valhala series.
