Storyline of The Evil Within Part #1

The game starts with Sebastian, Joseph, and Kidman traveling with police officer Oscar Connelly to Beacon Mental Hospital to probe a serial killing. After they arrive, the trio enters and discovers mutilated bodies scattered throughout the hospital except for one survivor, Dr. Marcelo Jimenez. Before passing out, he mutters the name "Ruvik." Sebastian reviewed the security footage and discovered that three police officers were murdered in an instant by an unidentified man. After the attack, the man spotted the CCTV camera and vanished. Suddenly, Sebastian sensed someone behind him. He quickly turned around and came face-to-face with the same mysterious man who then assaulted him.

Sebastian wakes up hanging upside down and sees Sadist, a big man who tells him to play dead. After Sadist leaves, Sebastian uses a knife to untie his legs and grab the keys. He escapes from the basement, but sets off the alarm and is chased by Sadist.  Sadist used his chainsaw to injure Sebastian's leg but he escaped through the sewer channel. Long story short, Sebastian escaped by elevator and while walking towards the hospital exit, there was suddenly a huge shock. He immediately ran outside and saw that Crimson City was being destroyed. Connelly picked Sebastian up in an ambulance and they set off to avoid the destruction of the city. The mysterious man watched their movements from the roof of the hospital and then disappeared. During the journey, Connelly stated that he had left Joseph behind since he had never left the hospital. In the back of the ambulance, patient Leslie was being comforted by Kidman and Dr. Marcelo. Sebastian checked the rearview mirror and saw a suspicious figure, but when he looked back, the individual was not there. Connelly's face changed suddenly, and Leslie, who had earlier exclaimed "Fine", now shouted "Fall" as the ambulance tumbled over the cliff. While unconscious, Sebastian had nightmare where a monster climbed over his body and immediately woke him up in a hospital that could be called Safe Heaven, Asylum, or Save Room (according to the wiki). This hospital helps gamers save their progress and upgrade their abilities. Safe Haven is like another dimension that Sebastian lives in, and he can access it by gazing at a particular mirror.

Sebastian woke up in an ambulance and discovered that his friends had vanished. He then proceeded through the forest and encountered Connelly, who had transformed into a monster. Sebastian located a revolver behind Connelly and used it to defeat him. This creature is the Haunted, the primary antagonist in the game. Sebastian later encountered Leslie, who aided him in avoiding a trap. Nevertheless, Leslie fled in terror when Sebastian attempted to help him. While traveling to find Leslie, Sebastian witnessed a haunting transformation process. Exposure to the lighthouse light turned a regular person into a haunted monster. During his journey, Sebastian was chased by a haunted but managed to escape by jumping into the water and reaching a village called Elk River Village.

In the village, Sebastian meets Doctor Marcelo who informs him that Leslie is his patient. Together, they approach a gate. As the village is infested with haunted, Doctor Marcelo suggests luring them away while Sebastian tries to unlock the gate. However, the chain is too large and he need a chainsaw to cut it. At the same time, Sadist is also present, chained up. Suddenly, Sadist broke free from his chains, but Sebastian finally defeated him and retrieved Sadist's chainsaw, which he used to open the gate. Sadist's body was instantly absorbed into the mysterious man's body from the beginning. In the end, Sebastian and Marcelo were able to open the gate. Marcelo stated that his brother Valerio was Leslie's first doctor and he was certain that Leslie was present. In short, they arrived at Valerio's hospital and were amazed to see him cutting a patient's stomach, revealing he was possessed. Sebastian promptly kills Valerio and has a premonition of his own possible possession. While looking for answers, Sebastian and Marcelo spot Leslie running and pursue her until they catch up with her in a house. When they try to leave through the stairs, a wall appears and a mysterious man shows up. Dr. Marcelo recognizes the man as Ruvik. Sebastian pursues Ruvik and he takes Sebastian to another dimension. There, Laura, a four-armed monster, chases Sebastian. Long story short, Sebastian meets Joseph, who initially seems fine but gradually transforms into a monster. Realizing Joseph's condition is severe, they agree to proceed with their journey.

They found Kidman stuck in a tank of water on their journey. They freed Kidman, but they all fell down and Sebastian was taken to Laura's location. Sebastian defeated Laura with fire and then reached the experimental room containing a device called STEM. Sebastian had a flashback where he saw that Leslie was a subject in Ruvik's tests, and that Leslie was compatible. The STEM machine transformed into a giant brain and created a haunting. Sebastian managed to blow up the STEM machine, but he became unconscious and woke up in Save Heaven. After that, Sebastian saw four photos: the lighthouse, church, graveyard, and hole in the church. Shortly after, there was a big shock in Save Heaven and it became dark. Tatiana, a nurse at Save Heaven, walks to a staircase where there should be no stairs. Sebastian walks down the same stairs and encounters a monster holding a safe called The Keeper. Sebastian tries to escape from The Keeper but runs into Leslie in the corner, who turns his body with a mirror for a face, immediately bringing Sebastian back to reality.

Sebastian woke up by the Lighthouse pictured on Save Heaven's desk. There he found Joseph unconscious. When Joseph suddenly awoke, a group of haunted tried to attack them. They managed to escape from the haunted and fought them off on their journey. Eventually they met the Sadist, whom Sebastian killed. Upon reaching the tower's peak, Joseph observed somebody about to be executed by two haunted. He intended to shoot the haunted from a distance, but while searching for a spot, he triggered a tripwire trap that destroyed the bridge, causing him and Sebastian to be separated. Eventually, they triumphed over the haunted and united. In summary, they encountered Kidman and Leslie, who entered the church, and then Sebastian and Joseph pursued them. On their journey, Sebastian encountered two giant twins named Nine and Ten. He conquered them with Joseph's assistance. However, there was something that happened just prior to this. Next, they both leapt into an underground hole. Long story short, they eventually emerged from underground, but then Joseph was unexpectedly assaulted by a dog-like creature called Sentinel.  Ultimately, Sebastian vanquished Sentinel and safely escorted the injured Joseph out of the arena. Sebastian went back to the arena to get Joseph's glasses that he left behind. He is quite amusing.

When Sebastian finally got into Cedar Hill Church, he saw that Joseph was in bad shape. Joseph had been convinced that he was being haunted, and he heard a buzzing sound that was getting louder. Sebastian acted quickly and injected Joseph with a syringe. Things took a turn for the worse when Ruvik arrived and the entire church started to float. Sebastian fell to the underground. Sebastian opened the door to the lower room and evaded The Keeper's trap. He found and freed Leslie by avoiding all traps. Later, Leslie accidentally stepped on a trap which imprisoned Sebastian in the room with The Keeper. Sebastian overcame The Keeper's attack by switching safes. Finally, he defeated The Keeper with a spike trap. Sebastian encountered Alter Ego-like monsters and The Babies (baby version of Alter Ego) upon entering the cave. While exploring, he suddenly found himself in a hospital hallway where Doctor Marcelo stood with a STEM machine.  The doctor revealed the cause of the odd occurrences and connected Sebastian's and others' brains to the STEM machine based on the research of Doctors Marcelo and Ruvik. Ruvik controls the STEM machine as his consciousness is at its core, leaving him with the most power and influence in that world. His plan is to kill Sebastian and Doctor Marcelo. As a result of Ruvik's actions, the STEM machine transforms into a giant brain and Marcelo disappears. Sebastian is then pursued by a monster known as Amalgam Alpha and takes refuge in Save Heaven. In Save Heaven, Ruvik quickly approaches Sebastian. To be continued....
